I was a bit concerned about adding this expansion, because I loved the simplicity of the plain vanilla Dungeon Drop… but I needn’t have worried. It integrates very easily, adds great new functionality (without complicating the core-game very much), and definitely adds to the experience. If you like the original, you’ll probably be very happy with your purchase. I definitely recommend it.
I was a big RPG player in the 80’s, but about a year ago I kind of returned to my roots and started obsessively collecting (and playing) RPGs and board games. I’ve got dozens of them.
I say this because I want to qualify the next thing I’m going to say: of all of the dozens of games I have played (some of which cost hundreds of dollars) this simple and cheap game is genuinely one of the coolest and most fun-to-play games I’ve ever played. This is largely because of the very simple and quick set-up, and the short time it takes to learn and to play. This may not appeal to everyone, but for me it’s just such a refreshing change of pace from the games I’ve typically played which take 20 minutes to set up, and hours to play. (Not to mention huge rule-books.)
I really like the solo mode, and it’s entirely appropriate for almost any age from young to old.
The only real drawback is that it requires a fair amount of table-space, and pieces could potentially be easy to lose, if you aren’t careful.
It really is a fun game though, and I highly recommend it as a family game, or party-game for 1-4 players (5, if you get the Wizard Spells expansion).
If you enjoy it, I definitely suggest you get the “Dropped Too Deep” expansion. It adds some great new features (yet retains the slick simplicity which makes it great).
The playmats and walls are also nice, and worth considering. (I did buy the walls, although they aren’t seen here in my photo, because I gifted them to someone, and need to repurchase them again, for my own self). Obviously you can make your own walls, but they aren’t seen convenient and provide a nice, consistently-sized and easily storable boundary for your game-area.
Anyway I’ll quit rambling, but bottom-line is buy it. It’s worth three times the price.
The Dungeon Mat really elevates this game and is a must in my opinion. The quality of the mat and walls are great and it’s nice having the dungeon contained. I got two which is the perfect size and much more suitable than a single mat. Highly recommended!
There is so much to review. I will try to keep this short. I manly got this game to play solo. (That's what this review will be based on). First the treasure box. You get 5 holder boxes with the big box. They, the spells expansions, walls, mats and the 2 regular boxes fit nicely in the box. The mats really look nice when all the treasure and monsters are in the dungeon. They also don't make the cubes bounce as much (they do a little) Now the walls. This is one of the most important add-ons you need. If playing on a surface that has any kind of bounce (like a glass table) you need to walls. That way you don't go chancing cubes all around the room. The bag of holding is a great way to draw dice out for dropping them into the game. The Spell expansions I have not tried yet beacuse you can't solo play that. The base game is awesome. I love the dropping of the cubes is why this game stood out for me. The 2 other games you get in the box are standalone games. But with one of them you get extra trolls and goblins (with faces on them) to add to the base game. The base game expansion adds other monsters to the game. There is even a dragon with a face to add into the base game. Now all the monsters in my game have faces. I love that. All the mini expansions you get add even more challenges to the game. Can be used with base or 2nd game. Now just a few little bothersome things. If you drop your stringy thing it can come apart. But I did get it back together. I just wish it came with instructions to put it back together. I also wish that this trunk came with the mini purple cube and the gelatinous cubes expansions. But I will say from one gamer to another "Phase Shift Games" have not hit a home run but a grand slam with this game. If you are thinking of getting this game I highly recommend it. If you can only get the base game, that will be just as fun as the complete box. Plus the artwork is grwat to look at on its own. I just can't wait to try the multi-player mode soon. Thanks again "Phase Shift" for this 5 out of 5 game
definitely recommended, adds a lot of content to the base game
Sure, any objects could be used as walls for Dungeon Drop. But if you're already buying the mats, an extra $5 is cheap for nice walls that match.

Very satisfied. Thx
Just a fun and simple game for everyone to enjoy and the deluxe version with added faces makes it adorable and easier to spot the enemies. Would recommend for a simple fun game night.
Keeps everything in order, and I recommend trying not to over organized with more trays and leave the walls and mats in the box.
It helps minimize the bounce from the cubes and with the walls. They are extremely helpful to keep the cubes from falling off the table.
I still gave it five stars because I didn't need the drop drive items, but still glad I got it for dungeon drop.
Adds more to the game and makes it a lot more fun to play.
It's a nice bag to use for mixing and dropping the cubes.
Got this for emergency to keep my cubes in order and use like a player cube holder when in play.
